Hypnotherapy is the treatment of emotional and psychological disorders, unwanted habits and undesirable feelings. The aim of Hypnotherapy is to assist clients in finding meaningful alternatives to their present unsatisfactory ways of thinking, feeling or behaviour.  Hypnotherapy also helps clients become more accepting both of themselves and others and can be most useful in promoting personal development and unlocking inner potential.

Hypnotherapy addresses the client’s subconscious mind by inducing a state of total relaxation of the body and mind and uses direct suggestions for beneficial change.

Hypnotherapy is used to address many common problems such as Smoking, Weight Loss, Low Self Esteem, Lack of Confidence, Alcohol and Drug withdrawal symptoms, Sport Enhancement, Sexual and Relationship problems, Phobias and much more.  See list below

What to expect from a Hypnotherapy Session

Initially the Hypnotherapist will explain what Hypnotherapy is about and what to expect during the session and reassure you there is nothing to be afraid of.  Your problem will then be discussed in detail with confidentiality.  The Hypnotherapist will then complete a form containing your personal details and the treatment to be given.

The Hypnotherapist will then talk you through an induction to enable you to start the relaxation procedure.  This will be followed by guided imagery during which the state of relaxation will be deepened. At this point total relaxation is reached.  It is not an unconscious or trance state or sleep.  It is just the point prior to falling asleep when the subconscious mind becomes very receptive.  The Hypnotherapist will then guide you through a script which is designed to address the problem requiring a solution.

During the session your conscious mind is aware of everything which is happening, however in this mind state many people will daydream.  We can naturally daydream up to 30 times a day without even knowing. Upon awakening from the session your subconscious mind will remember, however your conscious mind may not remember all the script when periods of daydreaming were happening.

People differ in how much they can remember of the actual session depending on how deeply relaxed they were and how much they were daydreaming.  These differences are not to be concerned or worried about.  Also the Hypnotherapist cannot make you do anything which you would morally object to.
